Danielle Barbour, MSN, CNM, RNC-OB, CLC

As a Certified Nurse-Midwife at Triangle Premier Women’s Health, Danielle considers it one of life’s greatest honors to be trusted to support families in their journey. Her mission is to provide evidence-based, holistic care that makes patients feel truly seen and heard.

Midwifery is a family legacy for Danielle, inspired by her grandmother, Joan, a Labor and Delivery nurse for decades. Following in her footsteps, she spent nearly a decade as a nurse at her local community hospital, where she was honored to be present at more than 700 births. For her, the word midwife—“to be with woman”—captures the heart of this calling, grounded in bodily autonomy, informed choices, and shared decision-making.

Danielle earned her Master of Science in Nursing in Nurse-Midwifery from East Carolina University and graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. She holds national certification in inpatient obstetrics, is a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC), and has taught Intermediate Fetal Monitoring for AWHONN.

Her additional training includes Advanced Life Support for Obstetrics, Neonatal Resuscitation, Sexual Assault Forensic training, Spinning Babies, and more. Danielle also served six years as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner, supporting survivors while working with law enforcement and crisis advocates. She frequently speaks to adolescent pregnancy groups and is passionate about education and empowerment. Before healthcare, she worked for many years with at-risk youth and those battling substance use disorder.

Outside of work, she enjoys life with her husband and four sons—gathering with family, traveling with her sisters, and reading birth books. Her happy place is anywhere with music, water, and tacos -preferably all at once.
